Go Public With Your Faith

Is Baptism your next step?

Life is full of next steps, each one bringing us closer to the God who created us and loves us. If you’ve made the decision to follow Christ, one of the most valuable next steps you can take is baptism.

Keep reading to find out more about baptism, what baptism looks like at TheBOD, and how you can get baptized.

What Is Baptism All About?

Baptism is a symbol of what Jesus did for us.
When we go down into the water, we’re reminded of Jesus’ death on the cross and how His sacrifice covered our sins.
When we come out of the water, we’re reminded that three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death and securing eternal life for us.

Baptism is a symbol—not just for us, but for our friends and family as well—that the old is gone and the new has come.
Baptism is about going public with our faith.
When you make a life-changing decision, you want to tell everyone about it!

Baptism is an opportunity for you to celebrate with your friends and family and tell others about the hope you’ve found in Jesus.

Think about who you want to celebrate with you and invite them to church!
Baptism is about following Jesus' example.
In Matthew 3, Jesus chose to get baptized before starting His ministry here on Earth. When we make that same choice, we’re living how Jesus lived.

Later, in Matthew 28, Jesus told His followers to go and baptize others.

As we get baptized and baptize others, Jesus’ message of love spreads around the world.

What does Baptism look like at TheBOD?

Each service at TheBOD lasts one hour, and baptisms happen during the first half of the service during worship.

If you sign up to be baptized, one of our pastors will reach out and tell you when to arrive at church and any other details you need to know. When you arrive, you'll check in and receive your free baptism t-shirt and bag.

After receiving your items, you'll change into your baptism t-shirt and extra clothes. Your pastor will walk you through getting in and out of the baptism pool.

You’ll be guided throughout the entire process, and your pastor will be available to answer any questions you have.

What do I do after Baptism?

Start a habit of connecting with God.
The most important commandment God gives us is to love Him above anything else. When you love someone, you seek a relationship with them. Right? Whether that means a scheduled, daily quiet time before work, exploring the Bible, or praying to Him for strength and wisdom throughout the day just acknowledging Him.

Seek God and a relationship with Him. The Holy Spirit, received through baptism, will guide you in understanding the Bible and prompt you towards faithful actions.
Find trusted friends who know Jesus.
Nothing is harder than trying to do life alone. Finding people to walk alongside you in faith is key to staying on the right path. God created us as social people, no matter how introverted you are (trust me!).

New Christians especially benefit from the guidance and support of a faith community. Your friends are there to help you, strengthen you, and support you. Just as Jesus surrounded himself with disciples, following Jesus involves building supportive relationships.
